In CTF, whoever wins the coin toss always gets the first, and last pick, and the loser of the coin toss gets leftovers. This is completely unfair for the second captain. A fair system for 4 on 4 would be
(Glad's idea) Captain 1:
1st Pick 3rd Pick Leftovers
Captain 2:
2nd Pick 4th and 5th pick
Or
Captain 1:
1st pick 4th and 5th pick
Captain 2:
2nd and 3rd pick leftovers
This can also be applied for other variations.

Been suggested before, GCs have said they will try but always forget,
I think it should be a chain selecting system for 8 player games, or 12 player games, but not 6 or 10 player games, that will always force whoever picked the best player to pick the worst player too, so teams are more likely to be equal.

Of course this system isn't always necessary unless PJ or one of her similars are playing.

Opposite (Thu Nov 22 20:23:52 2007):
i'd prefer
captain 1 -> 1st pick captain 2 -> 2nd + 3rd pick captain 1 -> 4th + 5th pick captain 2 -> 6+7 captain 1 -> leftovers
same thing

This would certainly be better than the coin toss odds/evens drafting. I mean I haven't exactly had any problems with it personally, but it has made some poo games.

Honestly, the coin toss picking can be very biased.
But the fact is, that half the time people are picking players or not picking players based on whether they will try hard for your team.
I recall chase asking miller if he'd try if he picked him, and miller said no. During pms you, rufus, told me that myself didn't know that you were on his team so he wasn't trying as hard.
If people are so stubborn that they'll only try hard for their friends, then it really doesn't matter what order you pick. You're going to pick certain players b/c you know them and you won't pick certain players because you know them (as in they won't try unless they are perfectly happy).
Until yall stop being so block headed and start playing balls to the wall, the teams are going to look fairly similar game to game.

Randomized teams ftw. But that even or odd pick thing is sort of annoying. I'd much rather prefer snake picking or the regular picking.

Snake picking might be the best in theory, but again it depends on the players.

Yeah it seems some people try for their friends but when they're in teams of people they despise people tend to "suck", that ruins the game....I always say we're going to lose because it's fun to do that.

Every time i had hosted CTF i had offered the Coin Toss winner the choice of either 1st pick + last pick, or 2nd + 3rd pick, rather than just forcing first + last, you can't pick and choose which players get to play as a GC, so if there is for instance a Princess Jade and no outstanding player, coin toss winner doesn't get forced into having that disadvantage.
On the other hand, if there are no weak players and a number of strong players, why not sacrifice 1st pick to obtain 2 better players overall, if you win the toss and end up forced into 1st + last it's a disadvantage again.
