Okay I'd like some clarification on that.
Today I was playing on my trial account at work, with 3 hours left. I managed to enter a few events, but as soon as Thor hosted his ctf, he said I couldn't join. first because he thought i was banned... then he said...no trials shouldnt be allowed into events..
because of observer mode poo..
When a trial tells you he has a few hours left, why not believe it?
anyway... why do some gc's ask beforehand how many hours a trial has left, and why do others make such a big deal out of it.. i guess it's time to start talking about what's the case in this matter.

GCs don't want to deal with observer mode if they don't have to. Trials have, in the past, lied about their hours left to get into events. Obviously this isn't always going to be happen, but it's better to be safe than to be sorry.
I usually wouldn't like to have trials in ctfs/team events in case they are a noob trial, since they would screw over the game. Sumo, LMS, survivors, etc. wouldn't be a problem. But trials usually get booted from the ctf entrance I think, unless the GC summons them manually so IDK.
Overall, GCs would rather avoid trials since they have complications. I know most GCs would want their events to go as smoothly as possible without any interuptions, and trials can be a liability to this.
So it sucks that you didn't get in ctf, but why were you playing graal at work?

As Glad said, the chances of a trial going in observer is very high and it will be hard to get them out. It used to be decent before July 2007 to let Trials in, but it can be hectic. I sometimes let Trials in but i make sure with their hours.

I guess it falls under the 'GC's Discretion' rule.
