Admit it, Trip's confirmation of another CTF League was big news. Yep, I could remember when Tatsumi attempted his first CTF Tournament, and then after speculation that the idea would flop he tried to reborn the idea, but it didn't turn out. Tatsumi's CTF League had customizable teams, you simply met up with people, formed the team, and sent everyone's accounts (if I'm right) to his email address. It was simple, and would've rocked most likely if we actually got some matches off.
Gladius's attempt was different, it directly resembled the normal captain system used to declare teams in CTFs. Players sent to his email (or whatever) to form a line up, and any GCs at that time willing to volunteer would make the four captains. Gladius had his more thoroughly planned then Tatsumi's, and rather then having a basic tournament style where two teams played against each other having the losing team eliminated, it was going to take more of the route of the NFL playoffs. Unfortunately the act of gathering specific players at a specific time was definitely a over demanding task, and his CTF League wouldn't make the first match either.
Now we have Trip's CTF League who's had the luxury of observing Tatsumi's and Gladius', and it seems he's got a winning combination. It's customizable like Tatsumi's but works off of a captain like Glads. The thing is that Trip has put in an economy system and it's an interesting mechanic which I'm sure no one saw coming excluding the few psychics among us who believe that's very common.
Now of course with an announcement like this there's all the off the wall questions... IS THIS A FLUKE?!?! If it works out well it could definitely be possible, Tatsumi and Gladius' attempters weren't far from actually being executed, so yes it's possible to do one of these. With the obvious most wondered question out of the way I am curious to see how this league will work - you get your team and match up against another but how do you determine which mode will be played? I personally would like to see epic 15 goal matches where a coin flip determines which team chooses the first mode, after ten total goals are scored the other team gets to switch the mode to a favorable map, and then original team that started it off gets another pick after the next ten goals. Also would be if items are included or not, now items on no matter the map would have no problem as far as I'm concerned, but NPCs aren't commonly used in most CTF types. It's nice to speculate but how these things will be dealt with is unsure until Trip makes the decision!

I planned to assign each gamemode a number and roll a dice to decide which mode would be played for each mach. Each team had a GC in my tourney so someone who wasn't playing could host.
I believe my attempt failed is that people got on one day, saw my announcement, e-mailed me, then forgot about it. A good half the players haven't been seen much at all on classic ever since my anouncements.
I thought about having the captains pay the players, but this would have been implemented in season 2 (assuming we got through season 1, which it did not.) Something I also planned was for each captain to be able to keep 1 player, and having to draft 3 more the next season, so the teams would, in theory, be different.
Gl Trip.

The Captains will be decided this comming Saturday(the 17th), possibly extending to Sunday(18th)
If i have to, we can shrink the league down to 3 teams of 4 players. I will post this somewhere else as well, but entry fee for Captains will be 50 tickets.
The last CTF leagues have failed due to a few reasons:
1. Playercount demanded too many people 2. Times were NOT set in stone. Like the monthly there will be a specific day AND time for the matches. 3. Incentives? Not much last time. Motivation? Was lacking in these last tourneys. Players had nothing to really lose last time. Now they have plenty to fret about.
If they can get a player to join their team without pay...good job. Personally, i go to the highest bidder. Cuz im a greedy son of a *****

Yeah well i didnt want to have set matches cause i knew it would cause many schedual problems
so I left it open to the teams to get together within a week and play their match.
Unfortunately it didnt happen.

It's all very true with the incentive to win, with so many tickets on the line winning teams would probably hit the jackpot!
Another interesting point to make is that the economy system is probably broken. The captain ticket fee is 50 tickets, that's money (talking money is alot easier) that alot of players don't have, seriously how many people can you just name with flat out confidence that have atleast 50 tickets on them... not many. I saw a sneak peek at Kid Oni's stash and he had like 84, then you have me and Laura the competitive ticket titans, and well everyone else who was online at the time of this Trip vs. Glad thingy had around 30 bucks or less, most of which had 15 or less very rarely getting in the 20s. It's very limiting, cause the amount of potential challenges won't be fulfilling in such a case. Laura said she wasn't capting, and I wasn't ganna capt either but what exactly would stop a rich arrogant guy like me from taking the win? I was once an underdog but that time has long passed so it's no secret that I'm rather good (well not anymore since I dont get to as play much but either way most players have it set in their heads that I'm atleast a threat). The point is Kid Oni who's the only possible capt besides me (I'm wrong but I'll keep talking like I'm right) would probably get less people wanting to join him then people wanting to join me, and since he only has 84 tickets (34 after captain fee) he'd be left with little to even bribe the players with, me on the other hand would have a whopping 200 tickets left if I were to pay the captain fee right at this moment. I could team up with uncounterable Thor, get my old rivals Night and Deophite just for kicks, and never have to worry about any of the possible team combinations. Be afraid for it's likely with the 25-50 buck ticket bribes I could throw around in the blink of an eye considering my clothes are hand-made of an expensive fabric known as GC Tickets.
If I were to play to win I'd have it in the bag cause the economy system favors those with higher amounts of tickets, and that the capt fee is high to the point where it's rare to see anyone who could afford it. I dont know the exact rate of which players increase tickets, so could someone with 10 have 50 by Saturday? No clue, I never bother to keep track of that stuff.
My stand as far as this league goes is to wait for four capts, and then go with the team that is the underdog, and yes I'll join whichever team that is for free (will be ROFLing if someone throws Princess Jade on their team to say "LOOK CLEL OUR TEAM IS REALLY UNDERDOGISH", thought I'd totally be down for it). If the capts arent poppin and I take a slot I'd most likely pick a not obviously balanced but well put together team. If I'm capting and someone dare says something along the lines of "CLEL! YOU SUCK AND EVEN WITH NEWBS LIKE THOR, NIGHT, AND DEOPHITE BACKING YOU UP WE'D STILL FLAW YOU 10-0 EZ!!!!" I'll definitely send outrageous 50 ticket prides to those three. I'd actually be interested to see a team fierce enough to compete with Me, Thor, Night and Deo, and it'd also would be interesting to see our team helpless to stop such a force. I for one think that it's impossible though.

Pft, you call that a team? Looks more like a junior high choir squad or w/e they call it.
Clel since when the hell did you have this much time to type up such lengthy books.
Yeah the 50 captain fee might be a little excess. 20-30 might be better for the average graalian.
If clel was a manager/captain, he'd basicaly be the New York Yankees since he could afford to pay his players off the wazoo.
And no one likes the Yankees.

Night lags to the point where he occasionaly freezes and thus enables the other team to slash him to death. He'll unfreeze after a few seconds and usualy be dead. This happened twice a few days ago when he had the flag. One time he froze right after scoring, so he was lucky there. Thor lags, we all know that story. Deo has been on more these last two weeks than ive seen him on the past 2 months. The last two matches I saw him in, a Large and Small CTF, he carried the team with his offense. And Clel is clel, who is arguably the best overall player on classic. So lets review: attack would be thor+night, where one occasionaly freezes up defense would be deo+clel? But both of them are better at attacking That team is no where near perfect.

Clels good allright but he isnt the best. Depends on his team if he is to be good. A good sparrer yes, can people beat him? very true. I was practically owning clel last night till he decided to run and i lost the chance to get singles.

Clel since when the hell did you have this much time to type up such lengthy books. I'll be doing something like playing against some people in smash bros or something, and in between rounds I type up some ideas. Clel your 4 man team that you said is all offense. Coo a challenger? Well you better put together a pretty offensive team to take an advantage of our lack of defense. Also a defensive team could nulify our attack, rendering us useless. I was practically owning clel last night till he decided to run and i lost the chance to get singles. Your style counters mine, so I switched to a style that countered yours. I was expecting you to switch up and take the gold but it didn't happen. But I forgot, when you see a style you're not supposed to adjust accordingly.

Style style style. I'm tired of people talking about sparring style.
Everyone uses the same direction keys and the we all bash the same s key.
Before I believe in this 'style' stuff, someone tell me what my style is, or lack thereof.

I lolled at the need to "believe" in "style" lol, it was just that Mystic was sitting in one spot and I was chasing, I was pretty sour at the time so instead of chasing I sat in one spot aswell.
Gladius you C slash alot from what I remember. It'll stop most people but some can get around that.
